Artificial Intelligence is transforming learning, employment and career guidance at an unprecedented rate. But… are we prepared to use it in a more ethical, critical and inclusive way?
INclusive TrAIners is an Erasmus+ project that we launched last October as part of the KA2 strategic partnerships with a very specific goal: to empower Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET) trainers to become leaders in the ethical and inclusive use of AI in training and employment. Because the use of AI is advancing very quickly, but its integration will only be fair if it is fair for everyone.
AI has the capacity to customise itineraries, detect training needs and facilitate employment opportunities; however, if not used correctly, it can also generate bias, exclude certain groups and perpetuate inequalities. It is imperative that we seek trainers who not only utilise AI, but also comprehend its intricacies, interrogate its assumptions and proactively adapt it to promote social justice.
To this end, we will develop a series of innovative, accessible and practical training resources over the two-year duration of the project. These resources will include:
- The Inclusive TrAIners Open Educational Resources Platform
- The virtual laboratory for experimenting with real tools
- A free and up-to-date resource bank, guides and best practices
This includes specific recommendations for working with vulnerable groups.
INclusive TrAIners is a first step towards building a network of committed trainers, where experiences, tools, methodologies and new strategies for integrating AI from the perspective of ethics, creativity and social inclusion can be shared.
Technology is not a substitute for human value; rather, it complements it when employed responsibly and sensibly, with a focus on societal benefit.
AI is already a part of the present. It is imperative that we ensure that it is also part of a dignified, accessible and fair future.
